Brother HL-720
The Brother HL-720 is a slightly outdated black-and-white laser printer built for home offices. With a size of only 14.4×9.8×13.9 inches, the machine will fit nearly anywhere you want it to. It also has a light weight of 14.3 pounds that will make it easy to tote around when needed, and you will easily be able to move it from one office or location to another if necessary. Connecting via parallel interface, it doesn’t offer the connection options of newer options, and wireless printing is obsolete. It comes upon purchase with 512 KB of memory, but this can be upgraded to 2 MB of memory at any time.
Though the Brother HL-720 can produce high quality 600×600 dpi documents, its maximum speed can only reach 6 pages per minute. These speeds could really slow you down, depending on what types of documents you need to produce. If you’re a home user who only prints a page or two at a time, it will probably suit you just fine. But if you use your printer daily or multiple times a day, you may want to look elsewhere for a faster machine. Many personal laser printers can print as fast as 40 pages per minute—this is nowhere as fast as the competition.
Envelopes, transparencies, plain paper and labels are all supported by the Brother HL-720, and sizes up to 8.5×14 inches can be printed on. A maximum of 200 sheets of paper can fit in the input tray. Because it is a black-and-white printer, you are only going to need to maintain one HL-720 cartridge at all times. This holds black toner and will last about 2,200 pages before expiring. If slow speeds and low toner consumption are taken into consideration, you probably won’t need to buy replacements very often. Overall, it isn’t the newest or fastest machine on the market, but for home users with small capacity needs, the Brother HL-720 should be more than enough to suffice.
